About My Matron

My Matron is a health information hub for everyone. We share clear, reliable updates on health news, nutrition, wellness and child health, written so that anyone can understand them and use them in everyday life.

What we cover

  • Health updates: new guidance, research findings and health news, explained in plain language.
  • Nutrition and wellness: practical advice on eating well, staying active, sleep and mental wellbeing.
  • Child health: information for parents and carers, from pregnancy and infancy through childhood.
  • Health gist: quick, conversational takes on the health stories people are talking about, with the facts checked.

Our content is for people of all genders and for families of every shape. Whoever you are, we want you to feel informed and confident when talking about your health.

Who is behind My Matron

My Matron is written by Temitope Olanrewaju, a nurse and midwife from Nigeria. She trained and practised in Nigeria, working in federal and state health facilities and in humanitarian settings, including midwifery care in north east Nigeria. She is now a Clinical Research Nurse in the UK NHS, and holds an MSc in Public Health.

This experience across Nigerian and UK healthcare shapes what we publish: practical information that reflects the realities people face, grounded in current evidence, with clear signals about what is established and what is still emerging.
